The Utah Sheriffs Association awarded Johnnie Miller, UCIP CEO, with its Honorary Sheriff Award at their Annual Conference in September.
“Johnnie Miller attends almost all our monthly meetings, helps us with our issues and has us covered," said the association's executive director, Scott Burns. "I don’t know what we would do without him.”
The award proclamation notes that “sheriffs can be a tough group to join, but Johnnie Miller has truly become one of us and someone we are proud to call a friend."
Miller has received several awards and much recognition recently but considers this award as one of the greatest achievements of his career.
“With the recent increase in law enforcement liability risk and attacks at the legislature on liability protections," Miller said, "I appreciate that the sheriffs have allowed me to work closely with them and consider my advice and counsel."
Earlier in the year, the association voted unanimously to recognize Miller as the official risk manager of the association. This has been a fitting honor for Miller, as he graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Law Enforcement, Criminology, and Law Enforcement Administration.
