The UCIP Board of Directors took action at their meeting of Thursday, April 16, 2020 to adopt a Communicable Disease Exclusion Amendment effective May 31, 2020. The Amendment clarifies that covered physical loss or physical damage to property must be the cause of any suspension of operations to trigger the Business Interruption coverages. The Amendment adopted was provided by UCIP’s property reinsurer, County Reinsurance Limited (CRL). CRL has been notified by their reinsurers, including Lloyd’s of London, that this is now a mandatory endorsement on all new and renewed property reinsurance policies.
The Amendment has been added to the UCIP Coverage Addendum on the UCIP website.
