The Great Utah ShakeOut will occur on Thursday, April 19, and is a fantastic way to prepare to survive and recover from an earthquake.
Although you’re not likely to feel most of them, Utah experiences 800 earthquakes on average per year. With a major earthquake expected to occur at some point along the Wasatch Fault Line, the damage to life and land in Northern Utah would be devastating. That’s why now, more than ever, it is important to be prepared.
More than 1 million Utahns participated in the ShakeOut last year, and we hope you will join us in participating this year. There are many ways for individuals, businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, community groups, scouts, and others to participate in the ShakeOut, to get prepared for earthquakes, and to share what you’re doing with others so they can do the same. Please visit the Great Utah ShakeOut for ideas on how to participate and prepare this year.
